La Grande Course: from La Mure to Treffort, through heritage and panoramas

For this 16th edition, the organisers offer a course close to last year’s. You rediscover the cultural and natural wonders of the local heritage. These ingredients sparked great enthusiasm in previous editions.

From La Mure to the slopes of the Sénépi

The race starts in La Mure, capital of the Matheysine plateau. Then you head onto the slopes of the Sénépi at sunrise. You then have the chance to discover La Pierre Plantée. Next, you run down to La Mine Image, the underground mining museum.

From La Pierre Percée to the Grand Balcon

After that, you head towards La Pierre Percée, one of the 7 wonders of the Dauphiné. You then climb the slopes of the Connex. Next, you run down to the village of Monteynard to discover its viewpoint.

Then you reach the Grand Balcon of the historic railway of the Petit Train de La Mure. From there, the view is breathtaking. The lake and the EDF dam lie at your feet, all the way to the Vercors range!

At the Sénépi summit, the TPM’s Everest

Next, you tackle the climb to the Sénépi mountain pasture. You pass the Signaraux community ski resort and its famous ski lift. At the top of the Sénépi, the TPM’s Everest, you join the Maratrail course. There, the shepherd, his family and his team welcome you at the pasture chalet!

The footbridges and the finish in Treffort

From there, you run down to Mayres-Savel. Then you cross the 2 Himalayan footbridges, the Drac then the Ébron. So, you pass from the Matheysine to the Trièves.

Finally, you enjoy superb panoramas of the lake on the slopes of Côte Rouge. Then the final descent takes you to the Treffort water sports centre, where the finish line awaits.
